writing to create a bright future

You’ve heard all the old adages:

  • see it to believe it.

  • what you water grows.

What if nourishing our writing practice within a collaborative community space could help create the type of world we want to live in, prosperous for present and future generations, for our planet and for our communities?

Creativity and imagination

Writing has the capacity to connect us to ourselves, others, and the world around us. It helps us process, express, communicate, and feel the ground beneath our feet. It preserves culture, memories, rituals, and language.

Further, writing allows us create and imagine. It can help shape and expand. It can tell the truth, and it can open windows to new vistas.

Writing as a tool for positive change

In this writing workshop, we’ll use writing as a tool to imagine a bright future and create the positive changes we want to see in the world by examining and writing narratives that center love, community, and connection as core to individual and collective wellbeing. We’ll do so by:

  • Reading and discussing texts (suggested group reading: All About Love - New Visions by bell hooks).

  • Writing prompts and generating new work (open for all genres - free writing, poetry, nonfiction, fiction, short stories, memoir).

  • Intentional sharing and community reflection.
